Youth Sunday: Prayer November 10th
Prayer
Thankful Prayer: What do you thank God for?
I know that at times in life, you may not be thankful for anything. It all seems like it couldn’t get worse anyway. But I’m talking normal day-to-day life.
What have you thanked God for?
I struggle with being “thankful” and never thinking Him specifically. I see the value in my life, but in the meantime, do I thank Him?
What if the only things you had were the things you thanked God for?
Are you thankful?
Clothes in the closet, warmth in the winter, peace and a purpose, a place to sleep, running water, being born in a free country with people that love you. People here love you, but our love is not on God’s level.
You may not know, but people love you.
Francis Chan’s take on “Give us this day, our daily bread”
Lord’s prayer explanation
Truth is, I think, if God just gave us our daily bread, many of us would be angry. ‘That’s all you’re going to give me? You’re just going to give me enough to sustain me for today? What about tomorrow or next year or 10, 20, 30 years from now? I want to know that I’m set up.’ And yet Jesus says just pray for your daily provisions.
Thanks in all circumstances. That’s difficult right there. Lord help me with that. It’s possible but it doesn’t seem natural.
Can we give thanks in all circumstances?
Chiefs game: we all know when the game is and who they are playing. What if that interfered with a scheduled prayer meeting at church? Would we make it?
Praying even when we don’t feel like it
Example of prayer at the flagpole for vigils or for Meet You at the Pole. Is that the only time we gather specifically to pray?
Praying for one hour. By yourself, with small groups and a big group
Is there food?
My friend going?
Music?
Not for anything in particular, we just Show up.
for one hour. That’s all we do, we’re going to call on God. Thank Him glorify Him, and ask of Him.
Would we show up? When we heard about the meeting, what questions arise…well I’m free that evening..but will there be food there? Who’s going to be playing music or performing for us. Will there be a fun activity afterwards? NO!
Then no I’m good. I’ll do something else.
A Father’s Heart
God is ready to adopt any and all that come to Him.
When can we stop?
When we stop breathing. Look at the good that has come! More to go!
How much time do we waste? In that recliner?
Who loves driving?
Pray
There’s a great jail ministry here in Johnson County, great Christian school, look at some of the states that are going to allow unborn babies to live out their lives….but there is another side of our county, state, and nation. Christ’s values are under attack. We have got to step up. And our first step can be to hit our knees.
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanskgiving let your requests be amde known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving

Lord I Lift Your Name on High
